A visit to Lalitha Mahal

I went to Mysore with my cousin for his exam. Afternoon we had our lunch from RRR Hotel in Mysore then we were blinking each other what to do. Fed up off usual picnic spots in the city and we were searching for new ones’ for a visit.

In the puzzlement of whether to roam around or return back to Bangalore. Suddenly remember one of my colleagues who told me about different palace in Mysore. After calling him I got the name Lalith Mahal (People use to call it locally) but it is “Lalitha Mahal”

After noon, in the sunny day finding route is horrible and exhausting. At last we found out 2 options to go by auto or bus. Auto wala bargained for Rs 80 in one shot, we were not willing to pay too....Then left the second option “City Bus”. We started walking from RRR junction to main entrance of maharaja palace, take right of the circle to reach the city bus stand.

We can get bus from left extreme platform, Bus numbers are 80 and 200. Got the ticket to Sangeetha Corner and it charge around Rs 6 per person. Had a ride for 15 minutes we were at the bus stop. From the stop, if you move further right side can see the top of the Lalitha Mahal.

Started walking ahead to it and reached front gate. Gate Watcher told about the charges and we paid Rs 50 per head. Package comprises of inside visit and a complementary cup of Tea/Coffee. While querying we came to know Mahal is governed by ITDC and it’s a Hotel now.

It was great to view the Mahal from inside and outside. For visitors it was restricted to few area of huge mansion. Anyhow the restricted view itself gives the eye candy visuals of the building. Staircase at the Mahal was astonishing. Mahal can be seen in much number of movies.
