Trip to Cauvery Fishing Camp near Bangalore

A visit to Cauvery fishing camp was not in my dream. The trip was part of company annual day celebration and I am delighted to be one among them.

We planned for early startup, will reach there early and spend time splendidly. Our team too consist party poopers who were not ontime. First pickup time was scheduled at 6.30 am, ten minutes late from there and we planned to reach outskirts of the Bangalore city by 8 but we did it by 9.

Distance to Cauvery fishing camp from Bangalore is around 120 km as per the driver notion. With a gasp of 2 and half hours we reached there by 11.30 am. Driver went via Jayanagar, Banneshankari, Kanakpura Road to Kanakpura (90 kms). From kanakpura you can head to “Satanur”, tollgate point to the jungle .It was amazing to watch road to fishing camp splendid with greenery (June month we went).

From the resort all got refreshed with refreshments and they suggested 3 trekking plans, we stick with the basic one. Yelp !!! move on further to a road which leads to the vicinity to trek. As a surprise rivulet from uphill was dried out in the green hub. As we walked through serene jungle of greenery found an uphill in front of us flooded with grass. Fellows with athletic nature and others too chip in together to mount uphill. Check out the beauty of nature from photos.

We came to resort by 1. 30 pm and had a delightful buffet there. Voila , no fishes were there for the lunch, they serve mutton instead. I was flattened with my intention to have fresh fishes as in Hogennekal trip. Post lunch we had a photo session in groups and few entertainments too after it. Then comes the boating in coracles six members in one, 20 minutes ride and saw crocodile from far distance.

Here comes the interesting part of the whole trip “Fishing”. Fishing expert accompanied us to river back provided us with fishing rod and feed for it. In a span of one hour one among us caught the Mahseer fish, which the fishing camp is famous for.

We were supposed to leave the fish back.

Four of them from our group went for kayaking in 2 for 15 minutes. Bad luck we couldn’t go for rafting which will be there throughout the monsoon season.

By 5 pm we left the place and reached home by 9. (Bangalore TRAFFIC)
